Original EngineThe one and only produced by Ford Motor Co. This car was reportedly ordered for the James Bond GOLDFINGER Movie in 1964, but was not completed in time for the filming. It was listed on Ford's Photo Media log sheet as "GOLDFINGER MUSTANG". The "Mustang 007" front identification tag was a connection between this car, America's most popular car, and America's most popular spy, Ian Fleming's James Bond. The car has gold metal flake paint and a prototype roof console.
The console incorporates oil and water gauges, a second 8,000 RPM tachometer, a set of five warning lights, and an array of mysterious toggle switches. Up front, the valance panel houses two aircraft landing lights, making it one of the most distinctive fronts in Mustang history. Even the centers of their styled steel wheels were painted with gold metal flake paint. However, the 007 concept proved too rich for Ford's production department and the concept never went any further than the one running prototype - THIS CAR.
This piece of Mustang history sat undisturbed in a Ford parking garage for twenty years, until the original owner's son removed it. Then, it was painted twice and raced for several years until it was rescued and underwent an intense two-year restoration transforming it once again into the masterpiece it is today. This car was also featured on the cover of Mustang Illustrated in June, 1990 Vol. 5.
The car has had three owners and the current owner has owned the car for three months. The car is individually owned and titled in the state of Tennessee.
